A range of low metal release, intermixable, durable onglaze colours for direct and indirect applications, suitable for conventional and faster firing cycles.

APPLICATION

TF series onglaze colours are suitable for screen transfer printing, direct screen printing, spraying, banding and hand painting,

FIRING

For cycle of 4 hours or more, the following temperatures are recommended:

Bond China 720-800 ℃ Porcelain 760-830 ℃

Vitreous China 720-800 ℃ Earthenware 680-780 ℃

Faster firing is achieved at higher temperatures with optimum firing conditions depending on glaze and body formulation.

CHEMICAL DURABILITY

Dishwasher durability is tested by immersion in a 0.5% finish solution at 78 ℃ . Results show no appreciable deterioration of either colour or gloss after 32 hours exposure, which is an accelerated alternative to 500 consecutive dishwasher cycles. This test represents the method employed during the product development phase. Current routine batch testing is carried out by immersion in a 0.5% sodium Carbonate solution at 88 ℃ .

Metal release is tested by immersion in 4% acetic acid at 22 ± 2 ℃ for 24 hours in accordance with DIN 51031,1986.Results are typically less than 0.3mgPb/dm 2 and 0.03 mgCb/dm 2 .

Lower levels of metal release and improved durability may be achieved by the use of coverflux TF888.

MODE OF SUPPLY

Available as powder, paste, aqueous suspension or thermoplastic form:

Screen transfer printing medium 5402/ 7022 /134334

Direct screen printing medium 5402/139 /134332

Spraying medium 5402/5874 5402/48

Handpainting medium 5402/3809 5402/90

RECOMMENDED COVERCOAT

We recommend #440 #640 through a 27Tpolyester mesh.

PRINTING RECOMMENDATIONS

For optimum performance we recommend mesh sizes of 71-120T(180-305) for all screen applications. Powder to medium ratios are dependent on application, typically:

Screen transfer printing 10:7 to 10:5

Direct screen printing 10:4 to 10:3

MIXABILITY

TF Series onglaze colours are made from compatible glass systems and therefore intermixable in all proportions with the exception of iron red TF204 and the cadmium colours. Mixing white TF802 and mixing flux TF888 are available to complement the basic colours from which an extensive colours palette can be derived. The potential diversity of colour tones can be further extended by the customer, using the following guidelines:

Iron Red

Mixings which incorporate iron red TF204 should be formulated with the maximum proportion of 93M1002 in order to maintain the stability of the fired colour.

Gold Colours

The eight gold colours TF100, TF101, TF102, TF103, TF104, TF105, TF106, TF107, TF108 are fully intermixable in all proportions between themselves and with the other basic colours within the limitations indicated above.

The three gold colours TF106, TF107 and TF108 have been specifically developed to achieve exceptional thermal stability to accommodate variations in kiln tempatures and firing cycles.

Cadmium Colours

The six cadmium colours TF901, TF902, TF903, TF904, TF905, TF906 are fully intermixable in all proportions with each other.

However, the intermixability between the cadmium and non cadmium containing colours is limited and comprehensive end-user trials are recommended in order to establish the effects of print weight and firing conditions on colour development.

Additional Products

An additional white TF803 is available which exhibits a cleaner, purer colour tone, particularly useful when used on coloured substrates.
